What if AI could help your sales team generate 10–20% more commercial capacity—without hiring another salesperson?
And what if the biggest AI opportunity isn't replacing salespeople . . . but making every salesperson more effective?
That's where I believe the real AI revolution in sales is beginning.
Forget the robots for a moment. 😄
Let's talk about something business leaders understand:
Revenue. Margin. Conversion. Time.
Imagine you have:
20 salespeople
Each responsible for €1 million in annual revenue
That's a €20 million sales organisation.
Now let's NOT assume AI suddenly makes everybody 30% better.
Let's be much more conservative.
What happens if AI helps your team make several relatively small improvements?
1. Find better prospects
AI helps identify companies that actually fit your Ideal Customer Profile.
Instead of chasing 100 companies and discovering that only 40 are genuinely interesting...
perhaps your team focuses its time on the 60 that really matter.
Same salesperson.
Better targets.
2. Get more conversations
Now AI helps identify:
→ company developments
→ investments
→ expansion
→ management changes
→ new projects
→ market developments
→ potential buying signals
Your salesperson doesn't simply ask:
"Who should I call?"
They can start asking:
"Who has a reason to talk to me NOW?"
That's a completely different prospecting question.
3. Prepare better
Imagine reducing 60 minutes of research before an important meeting to 10–15 minutes.
AI researches:
The company.
The people.
Their market.
Competitors.
Recent developments.
Possible challenges.
The salesperson walks into the meeting better prepared.
And gets valuable selling time back.
4. Improve discovery
This is where it gets interesting.
AI shouldn't tell the salesperson what to say.
It can help them discover what they should ask.
Instead of:
"What keeps you awake at night?"
AI might help formulate 10 questions based on that customer's actual business situation.
Better questions.
Deeper conversations.
Better opportunities.
5. Improve conversion
Now imagine modest improvements through the funnel.
You currently generate:
100 opportunities
Perhaps:
40 become seriously qualified.
20 receive proposals.
5 become customers.
Now imagine AI helps improve each stage just a little.
100 opportunities
↓
45 qualified opportunities instead of 40
↓
24 proposals instead of 20
↓
7 wins instead of 5
Nothing miraculous happened.
Your salespeople simply became better at:
Targeting → Timing → Preparation → Discovery → Qualification → Value → Follow-up
But you just moved from 5 customers to 7.
That's 40% more wins from the same 100 opportunities.
Now imagine the average order is €100,000.
Old result:
5 × €100,000 = €500,000
Improved result:
7 × €100,000 = €700,000
Potential difference:
€200,000.
No extra salesperson.
No magical AI button.
Just a better commercial process.
And that's only ONE example.
Now multiply this across a €20 million sales organisation.
You don't need AI to improve revenue by 50%.
A 1% improvement = €200,000.
A 5% improvement = €1 million.
A 10% improvement = €2 million.
Suddenly the question:
"What does AI cost?"
becomes much less interesting than:
"Where are we currently leaving money on the table because we're NOT using AI?"
And revenue isn't the only opportunity.
AI can also help:
→ reduce unnecessary discounting
→ improve margins
→ identify cross-selling opportunities
→ improve forecasting
→ rescue stalled opportunities
→ reduce administration
→ improve coaching
→ accelerate onboarding
→ develop average performers
→ help top performers become even better
This is why I don't believe the future of AI in sales is primarily about replacing salespeople.
It's about improving the mathematics of selling.
More of the right prospects.
More relevant conversations.
Better discovery.
Better qualification.
Higher conversion.
Better margins.
More selling time.
And stronger salespeople.
The image below shows 10 practical areas where I believe AI can change a sales organisation's performance.
Don't try to implement all 10 tomorrow.
Start with one question:
Where in our commercial process are we currently losing the most TIME, OPPORTUNITIES, CONVERSION or MARGIN?
Find it.
Measure it.
Then determine how AI can improve it.
That's where AI stops being an interesting technology...
and starts becoming a commercial investment.
My challenge to every business and sales leader:
Take the 10 areas in the image below and score your organisation from 1–10 on each.
Then identify your three biggest commercial gaps.
Calculate what even a 5% improvement in those areas could mean to your revenue and profitability.
You may discover that your biggest AI opportunity isn't somewhere in the future.
It's already sitting inside your sales organisation.
If you want to identify where AI could have the greatest measurable impact on your sales performance, revenue and profitability, let's talk.
Don't start by asking where you can implement AI.
Start by asking where your business is losing money—and then put AI to work there.
